about

For the B-Side, we wanted to examine a different side of love. We jumped outside of our signature instrumentation of guitar, cello, suitcase drum, and melodica in favor of something much more sparse and forlorn: a piano, our 3-part harmony, and a bit of glockenspiel peppered in. Though the lyrics remain the same, the atmosphere and performance completely shift to create an entirely new tone. The companion music video (slated for release in late March) spans both Love in the Underground and its B-Side counterpart to embody these dynamics; it tracks the main characters on a journey through both iterations of the song, and sees their relationship blossom in two totally different universes. All that remains constant is the love they share, no matter how many different forms and colors that love may take.

lyrics

We’re not strangers now
Finally found
Love in the underground

I, I spent my ticket to ride
Goin’ nowhere on a train past midnight
Bright city lights, flickering by

And I, I’m draggin’ my heavy heart
Onto the platform and there you are
With a beat up old guitar
And a song about to start

“Hold my heart oh hold my heart
Let my weight hang in your hands
Something bright inside your eyes
I just might understand”

I don’t know how
What a strange and sudden sound
But we’re not strangers now
Finally found
Love in the underground

You, you pulled me out of the blue
Far from the thunder of the trains passin’ through
And though the streetlights hide the moon
I see starlight shinin’ through

In this city of a million doors
Open one, there’s a million more
So what is it that you’re waiting for?
There's a crowd of dreamers, singing:

“Hold my heart oh hold my heart
Let my weight hang in your hands
Something bright inside your eyes
I just might understand”

I don’t know how
What a strange and sudden sound
But we’re not strangers now
Finally found
Love in the underground

I don’t know how
What a strange and sudden sound
But we’re not strangers now
Finally found
Love in the underground

What a strange and sudden sound
But we’re not strangers now
Finally found Love in the underground

about

Bandits on the Run New York, New York

Bandits on the Run are your friendly neighborhood criminals, whose sole purpose is to reinvigorate the element of surprise by making musical mischief in unexpected places.

To your ears, these whimsical criminals will sound like a nostalgic medley of old and new: strummed, plucked, and bowed away on cello and guitar, and propped up on an old timey spine of three part harmony.
